Measuring your bust size is incredibly important as it gives you the security of knowing you are wearing the perfect bra size for you. This increases your comfort and support levels, improves fit and keeps you looking natural under your clothing. Below is our top tips and steps on how to measure your bust size to ensure you get the right bra fit for you. With so much conflicting information around on how to fit a bra we hope this detailed description helps you make the right choices.

Step 1: Determining your Underbust Measurement - with a comfortable bra on, and no clothing, measure around your body where your ribcage is, ensuring the tape is under your bust. Make sure that the tape is straight, especially across your back, and that it is taut but not too loose or too tight. Make a note of the measurement, which should be rounded to the nearest centimetre.

Step 2: Determining your Bust Measurement - with the same comfortable bra on, and still no clothing, move the tape up to measure around the fullest part of your bust. Similar to step one, the tape should be as straight as possible and taut so that it’s not too loose or too tight. Note this measurement as well, rounding to the nearest centimetre.

Step 3: Determining your Bra Size - using these measurements, follow the table below to find your perfect bra size. Use the underbust measurement horizontally along the top row, which also shows your band size. Then, once you have found the best band size, use your bust measurement to search vertically down the relevant column to determine your ideal bra size. For example, if your underbust measurement is 85cm and your bust measurement is 104cm you will likely be a 16D.

Handy bra sizing hints include:

  • Always make sure the tap is taut not tight. If the tape is too tight you will end up with false results and an incorrect bra size
  • When increasing or decreasing your band size, your cup size will change. If you choose to increase your band size, your cup size will decrease. For example, if you are a 12D and looking for a size 14 bra, you will need to choose a 14C for optimal fit. Similarly if you are a 12D and looking for a size 10 bra, you will need a 10DD
  • Ensure the tape is straight across your body, especially your back. This will make sure you receive the most correct results

With so many great bras on the market today it’s important to make sure you know your correct measurements so you can get the most out of any new bra.
