Swimwear Buying Guide: Part 2
Buying swimwear to match your shape can be tricky. Sometimes the colours and prints you like don’t match your skin tone, the cut may not be flattering and the style doesn’t match your figure. This can be frustrating, but once you know a little more about your shape and the styles that compliment it, swimwear shopping can be a dream. Below is part 2 of our buying advice, we’ve made identifying your shape and shopping for your shape easy! At a glance you can see the types of prints, cuts and styles that might suit you and your unique shape.
Hourglass: the often envied hourglass shape consists of an even bust-to-hip ratio with a taut and trim waist. Most swimsuits and swim sets flatter this shape, however you’ll want to make sure you keep everything proportionate and well balanced.
Handy Hints:
- Swimwear with ruffles or padding on the top and ties or ruching on the briefs add volume to your top and bottom halves, creating an even curvier silhouette
- Ensure to match base colours with prints for balance

Straight: the straight silhouette is very similar to the hourglass shape in that your bust and hips are quite even, however straight shapes generally have a less defined waist. To combat this, make sure to pick swimwear with ruffles, padding and side ties to add the illusion of volume therefore creating curves around your waist.
Handy Hints:
- Create the illusion of curves by wearing tops with ruffles or padding and briefs with ruching or tie sides. Filling out your top and bottom halves will make your waist appear smaller and more shapely
- Wearing light colours will also add the appearance of more volume and will slightly shape your figure

Full Bust: this fabulous figure often features a larger bust with slim hips and a nice waist. Ideally you would look for swimwear which can create harmony between your larger bust and slim hips.
Handy Hints:
- Briefs with ruffles, ties, ruching and embellishments add volume to your base, creating an even balance with your bust and shoulders
- Swimsuits with side patterns or cut outs add shape to your mid section, creating a curvy appearance
- Solid coloured tops with patterned briefs also provide proportionate aspects to your silhouette
